Palomino Mare -- Sandy
Palomino Mare -- Sandy
This was my registered Missouri Foxtrotter mare Sandy. Sandy was supposedly a show horse in her early years, then a broodmare for a few years. I raised two fillies from her, then went to trail riding full time. She has had three years of natural horsemanship training and I studied Level 2 Parelli horsemanship with her for seven months in 2007. I rode her in a halter and either lead rope or mecate reins. I learned about natural hoof care in 2007 and after being trained how to do it, I started trimming Sandy's feet and she pretty much went barefoot all year. Sandy is responsive to body position, leg pressure and yields well to the rein. She has a gentle personality, leads great, loads in a trailer, shoes fine, is current on all vacinations. A friend rode her approximately 60 miles one week in July of 2007 on some difficult trail rides (rocky, steep terrain) with no problems. Has a great fox trot and smooth running walk. Beautiful rolling canter.
She will come up to you in the pasture, waiting to be petted, stands quietly to be haltered, leads easily and ties quietly. She also stands quietly when my friends shoe or trim her feet. I am positive that she will warm up to riding quickly and quietly.
How lucky can I get! One of my best friends' daughters (she's also my goddaughter) chose Sandy to be her newest friend. Actually, they are old friends since she has ridden Sandy several times, including just eight days before my accident in the Custer Gold Discovery Days parade.
